Welcome to Edition #16 of HUMAN.
This week we’ve asked Grace Houghton, our new Senior design strategist, to break down how she sees strategy, and why it’s important for a design studio, as well as rounding up the most interesting corners of the internet for you. We’ve also added some information about the Dutch Civilian Action for Ukraine initiative, which was set up by our former Lead Developer Maarten Vleugels and some friends to support the four-million+ refugees who’re fleeing the conflict. Finally, Philip Lück’s additions to his Abstract Realities series.

Wonderland is growing, as we’ve mentioned in the past, and with this growth has come an expansion of our offering. Through Q1 2022, we’ve worked to formalise our strategic offering, starting with the addition of Grace Houghton, our new Senior Design Strategist. Dutch Civilian Action for Ukraine
It has been over four weeks since Russia began its unwarranted invasion of Ukraine. During that time, over 16,000 foreign soldiers and civilians have signed up to fight for Ukrainian independence in their foreign legion, and billions of dollars have flown into the besieged nation’s coffers, both in terms of financial aid and material support. Aside from these direct contributions to the war effort, thousands of individual civilians from Portugal to Poland have done what they can to support the four million-plus refugees who’ve since fled their homes.
One such organisation doing what they can to help is Dutch Civilian Action for Ukraine. Backed with over €15,000 donations from over 190 generous donors, the DCA is a group of Dutch civilians, including our former Lead Developer Maarten Vleugels, who have been driving convoys of 5+ vans from Amsterdam to Poland and back again to deliver donated supplies and bring refugees back to the Netherlands.
Finding out where and how you can help those affected by the war can be a difficult task. If you’re looking for a way to help and support those fleeing the conflict, the Dutch Civilian Action GoFundMe page is still active and seeking donations, which are used to purchase supplies for fleeing refugees arriving in Poland, as well as help cover travel costs when bringing refugees back to the Netherlands.
